VIEWERLINK — Privacy Policy

VIEWERLINK is a Twitch Extension by ViperVex that helps a channel welcome new viewers and keep regulars connected.

The short version

VIEWERLINK stores how you took part in a channel — what you answered, what you contributed to, which community roles you hold — and nothing else. It does not track you across channels, it does not know your Twitch name unless you choose to share it, and it never sells or shares anything with advertisers.

What is stored, per channel

What Why

What is never stored

  • Your email address, your password, or any payment information. VIEWERLINK never asks for any of these.
  • Your Twitch identity, if you have not shared it. A viewer who has not shared identity is stored only under the per-channel identifier below.
  • Anything from other channels. Each channel's data is held separately and a channel can never read another channel's.
  • What you watch, how long you watch, chat messages, or anything else about your use of Twitch outside this extension.

How you are identified

Twitch gives an extension an opaque ID for each viewer — a per-channel pseudonym, not your account. VIEWERLINK does not store even that. It stores HMAC(channel, opaque ID): a one-way value that cannot be reversed and is useless in any other channel. If you share your Twitch identity with the extension, your numeric Twitch user ID is stored as well, and only then.

If you use the panel while logged out of Twitch, you can read the community guide, the history and the moments, but nothing is written for you at all.

Who can see what

  • Other viewers see the community's shared information: activities, tallies, goals, moments and the guide. They see text you submitted only after the broadcaster or a moderator approves it, and only alongside your Twitch name, which requires you to have shared your identity.
  • The broadcaster and their moderators see submissions awaiting review and a participant list. A viewer who has not shared their identity appears there only as a short pseudonymous label.
  • Nobody else. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

How long it is kept

  • Your participation record is kept for as long as the broadcaster runs VIEWERLINK on that channel.
  • Anonymous usage counters used for the broadcaster's own statistics are deleted after 400 days.
  • Notifications are deleted after 90 days.
  • Technical records that stop a request being applied twice are deleted after 24 hours.
  • If the broadcaster removes VIEWERLINK, or if we are asked to delete a channel's data, everything for that channel is deleted.

Your choices

  • Sharing your identity is optional. You can use most of VIEWERLINK without it. Twitch lets you revoke it at any time from the extension's permissions, and when you do, VIEWERLINK stops publishing your name alongside anything you submitted.
  • You can ask for your data. Write to info@vipervex.com with your Twitch name and the channel, and we will send you what is stored, or delete it.
  • A broadcaster can remove anything published on their channel through VIEWERLINK.

Where it runs

The extension's front end is served by Twitch. Its backend runs on Cloudflare Workers, which may process data in the region nearest to you. Requests are authenticated with the signed token Twitch issues to the extension; VIEWERLINK cannot act on your Twitch account and asks for no Twitch permissions beyond the extension itself.

Children

VIEWERLINK is not directed at children. It is used through Twitch, and Twitch's own minimum age applies.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is stored or who can see it, the date at the top changes and the updated policy is published here before the change takes effect.
