Mic Muted Widget | OBS Live Microphone Status Overlay

Never talk to a dead mic again.

You know the moment. Five minutes of your best story, and chat is typing "mic?". Mic Status puts a small, good‑looking indicator on your scene that shows LIVE when you're heard and throws a loud MIC MUTED alert the second you're not.

Connect OBS WebSocket once and it reads your real OBS mute state — not a guess, not a manual toggle. That is the whole promise: it will never show LIVE while your mic is actually muted.

Two states, your way

• Always — a calm LIVE badge that flips to a loud MUTED alert
• Alert only — completely invisible until something is wrong

Three display styles: full (mic, waveform and label), compact (icon only) or text only. Nine anchor positions and a scale dial so it sits exactly where you want it.

A waveform that actually moves

Turn on audio reactivity and the indicator breathes with your voice — bars, wave or circle, with 3 to 80 bars, your own smoothing and a sensitivity dial for quiet mics.

An alert you can't miss

Choose pulse, shake, stripes or flash, and dial the intensity from subtle to unmissable. An anti‑flicker delay means a quick push‑to‑talk tap won't set the whole thing off.

Four themes, or build your own

Studio Pro, Cyber Neon, Cozy Cute and Retro CRT — or switch to custom and set your own panel colours, ink, edges, alert colour, live colour, waveform colour, font and corner radius to match your brand exactly. Housing detail, glow, bloom, frame accents, grain and idle shimmer are each their own toggle.

Change things without editing anything

Most settings can be tested straight from the browser‑source path as URL parameters — ?theme=cyber-neon, ?mode=alert-only, ?display=compact, ?position=top-right, ?waveform=circle, ?alert=stripes, plus ?muted=1 and ?test=1 to preview both states. A one‑page cheat sheet lists them all.

StreamElements too

The StreamElements build puts every option in friendly menus in the overlay editor — no code — and adds chat commands !mute, !unmute and !mic for you and your mods.

Setup, in three steps

1. Add a Browser source in OBS or Streamlabs.
2. Tick Local file, pick Mic Status Widget.html, set the size to 440 × 160, and untick "Shutdown source when not visible".
3. Optional, one time: enable OBS WebSocket so it reads your real mute state.
